Hello,
I'v layed tile down in a couple of my homes and I'm looking to put some title in a pool in a few months. The pool will be made of concrete and then covered in plaster.
My question, what kind / type of thin set is used for under water applications?
Also, what kind / type of grout is used?
Thank You,
Michael Hofmann

Type of thinset depends partially on the selection of tile. The other part equally as critical is the proper cement based thinset. Not all thinsets are rated for submerged applications. Grouts maybe standard cement, latex, or polymer types. There are also extended drying times, 4 to 6 weeks to allow for complete hydration and proper coalescense in the case of latex/polymers. The tile should be chemical or acid resistent. There is no "offical" pool tile catagory.
