Q	Can not decide which would be better in the kitchen. Slate or the new prefinished engineered hard wood floors. Concern with slate is staining, absorbing, hard and keeping it polished and clean. Concern with hard wood is that it might scratch in a high traffic area.

A	Hi Lisa Tile or slate would hold up longer under heavy traffic. Using the right hardwood flooring is also important but it can be done. One that has the new Alumide or ceramic finsh are the most durable. But all wood flooring can be scratched. Jeff Hosking www.floorboards.com
