Vinyl floors as a shower surround?

Q   I am planning on using a vinyl floor as a shower surround? I have 'wonder board' walls installed (cement version of dry wall). Is this a bad idea? If so why? Shower surrounds are so incredibly expensive and vinyl floors are easy to clean / flexible / easy to install and affordable. It looks nice to, and soft to the touch. Let me know your ideas.
A   No reason why it would not work if you have no seams. Be sure to use waterproof mastic.
