Q
I have a sisal rug in my dining room. I recently got a new puppy and he has had a few accidents on the rug. I cleaned the spots as I would on a "normal" rug, but it still has the marks of the water that I used to clean. Any suggestions on how to avoid/clean these marks? Can you steam clean these rugs? Any advice would be helpful???
A
If the area that you wet cleaned is lighter than the rest of the rug you have lost color and there is not much you can do. If you purchase another sisal rug make sure you have the material treated with a topical guard which will help to make any quickly treated wet spill less evident. This is a natural fibre and should not be cleaned by the homeowner. A dry absorbant powder is about all I would advise to be used by the end user.
