Q   The carpet on my stairs has worn spots. Can you tell me if it is possible to put capet stair treads on top of the carpet currently on the stairs, and if so, where can these type of treads be purchased. Thank you.

A   Hailey,
Looking at your thread again I see it just the stair nosing that are going bad. Yes you can buy a stair nosing (at any general hardware store) made out of metal, cut to proper lenght and nail to the stair tread through the carpet and pad, thus protecting just the edge of the stair, but this particular metal generaly is for vinyl flooring. Contact a CFI installer in your area for further information.
