Q   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am building a new coin laundry and have heard about non-slip ceramic tile. Is this regular ceramic tile with a rougher surface (this is what I have been seeing)? Is it regular tile with a non-slip coating applied? All that I know for sure is that I probably need to have a 4 or 5 grade tile due to the traffic. Are there non-slip specific tiles or do we simply find a regular tile that has a rougher surface? I rarely see coefficient of friction numbers on tile displays. Any suggestions anyone has for doing this right would be appreciated. Thanks...Erik

Most tile manufacturers know the COF of their tile, you may have to ask. Many list it in their prooduct catalogs. A 4 would be plenty.

If you use a anti-slip tile with a nonslip coating. In a few years the non-slip coating will come off and you will need to replace the tile. It is better to look for antislip porcelain tile that has a rough or diamond shapes pattern on the surface. This will last you much longer and you will lower maintainance cost
