The Complete Guide to Painting Your Home: Doing It the Way a Professional Does, Inside and Out As a second-generation painting contractor, Luts brings a personal touch to the telling of what makes a good paint job. In addition to discussing proper preparation, he emphasizes types of paints and their selection; the correct use of brushes and other paraphernalia; estimates of cost and coverage; common painting errors; and so on. He also devotes chapters to wall coverings and floor refinishing. This is not, however, a definitive guide; Luts offers little or nothing, for example, on design and color selection or on the use of spray guns and chemical strippers. His brief discussion of heat as a paint-removal method refers to the use of a propane torch and fails even to mention the far safer yet equally effective electric heat gun. This ultimately offers no more painting know-how than a typical general how-to manual. Libraries should judge their need accordingly
