Description:
During the renovation of an historic church to create a visitor center and art gallery, the technique of imprinting architectural concrete was used to replicate the appearance of natural stone. Architectural concrete allowed a cost savings and eliminated construction delays that would have arisen had stone matching the historic church been ordered. The ready-mixed concrete was integrally colored to provide a warm base color and improve structural strength. LITHOCHROME Color Hardener was incorporated into fresh concrete to improve the abrasion-resistance of the surface to withstand heavy pedestrian use in the exterior patio and entry areas. The Yorkstone imprinting pattern was selected to reproduce the random look of rough hewn rectangular stones in various sizes, with irregular, rounded corners. LITHOCHROME Chemstain was used to give the area surface an antiqued, variegated appearance of age and natural weathering.
